The Crazy8s 2011 Gala Screening

120 filmmakers signed up to present their short film idea in a 5-minute video.42 semi-finalists pitched in person to a jury of industry professionals.13 finalists honed their scripts with a professional story editor. The 6 winners had 8 days and $800 to make their films. Now they are done and the finished films will be screened at a gala event at the Vogue Theatre! Check out some amazing and creative work. Special treat is the after party (included with ticket) at Science World with awesome DJs Timothy Wisdom and Adham Shaikh. 

Terminal City Rollergirls

Join Terminal City Rollergirls for their first bout of the 2011 season. This amazing double header will take place right here at home at Kerrisdale Arena! Get in on the action trackside as the hard-hitting, slick-skating house teams the Bad Reputations take on their formidable rivals the Faster Pussycats, and the raging Riot Girls team take on the league's newest and house team, Public Frenemy. Whenever these fine teams meet on the track, it's bound to be wicked, wicked awesome!!

Our friends Larry and Mitch of Vancouver Improv Anywhere are holding a silent dance party Flashmob.

INSTRUCTIONS:
- Bring iPod or MP3 player with your own MUSIC a MUST (or at least headphones)
- Show up at the Art Gallery for 2:00PM (sharp)
- Board the Skytrain and one by one... seemingly unbeknownst to each other + start dancing!
The idea is to have a dance party with "no loud music"- this will look hilarious to members of the public.

History is created daily in the lives of people. It is the reflection of our daily work. We create history through our actions, which becomes intentional when we reflect on how we act. In this unique workshop, early childhood educators, families and young children work together to create a future history that includes everyone - through care, dialogue, inquiry, thoughtful reflection, documentation and shared responsibility. Explore ways to document children's ways of relating to the construction of community and the creation of history today,  the powerful role of children in shaping a community, how child care workers can build from the experience of past social movements to create history and  think about how to transform child care with our relationships with children, families and each other.
