Renowned Colombian fashion designer brings new collection to Vancouver Fashion Week

Colombian fashion designer Adriana Santacruz travels to Vancouver to showcase her fall/winter 2013 collection at Vancouver Fashion Week. Her show takes place March 23rd at 7pm.

She is regarded internationally for her designs, and now Colombian fashion designer Adriana Santacruz is traveling to Canada to showcase her 2013 Fall/Winter Collection at Vancouver Fashion Week. Adriana’s fashion show will take place at the Chinese Cultural Centre on Saturday, March 23rd at 7:00 PM.

Adriana is a woman full of energy and conviction, who has long been expressing her creativity through her designs.

Adriana believes each garment is an artistic composition achieved only through language and fabric affinity. This collection is a reflection of Adriana Santacruz's identity, which plays between simplicity and complexity. It involves evolving visual patterns that break paradigms in the art of dressing.

A collection with Chinese influences, it consists of handmade fabrics in horizontal and vertical loom with brocade and intervened with ikat and dyeing mooring techniques, performed by indigenous people of southern Colombia and Ecuador.

Regarding colors, this collection includes a lot of black and brown, colours characteristic of the Fall/Winter season. Due to the professional technique of horizontal and vertical loom with brocade, it can achieve an exquisite mixture of colors. Some pieces of the collection are to be completed with denim; a black and a brown line are perfectly combined with a brick colored cover. This combination creates balanced silhouettes, which give a unique result and original pieces for the consumer.

To compliment the look, there are flats and heels in different fabrics (including, again, Chinese fabrics) and handmade fabrics designed by the Colombian brand Lobo Rosa.

All of the garments constitute a piece of art--but are functional enough to wear. Multifunctional, the pieces can be used as everyday wear, or dressed up for special occasions, depending on the fashionista's personal style.
