Early morning pedestrian-involved motor vehicle collision

Officers from the Vancouver Police Collision Investigation Unit have been called in to investigate an early morning pedestrian-involved motor vehicle collision that has resulted in an elderly man being taken to hospital in critical condition.

Shortly after 4:30 a.m. Vancouver Police received a call that a collision had occurred between a vehicle and a pedestrian at the intersection of E 1st Avenue and Commercial Drive. The elderly pedestrian was rushed to hospital where he remains in critical condition. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene. The investigation is still in its very early stages and the factors that may have contributed to it are unknown.

Investigators will remain on scene as they conduct their investigation and traffic is expected to be impacted.
