Unusually Good Flamenco at Funky Kino Cafe
Nov 15th, 2009
With live music and no cover charge, Kino Cafe and Tapas Bar could easily become my favourite Cambie Street bar. Although I've lived in the area more than three years, it took a Main Street friend to introduce me to one of my neighborhood's hot spots.
At 8:30, every table at Kino was taken with pitchers of Sangria on many. The menu has an adequate offering of tapas and pizza, but the real treat came when guitarist Gerardo Alcala's fingers played the first dramatic chord, and singer Jocelyn and dancers Bonnie and Afifa hit the stage. The powerful vocalists and expressive dancers kept the crowd fully engaged.
Kino's has live music through the week. Check Kino's website for the schedule.
