Lady Gaga on horse, motorcycle, wows audience at Rogers Arena with talent and crass charm

Photos by Anja Konjicanin

It wasn't hard to feel the rush, hanging on a moment with Lady Gaga, and 15,000 other people who twinkled like stars when the arena went dark, with light-up head bows atop their heads.

Gaga stepped out of a castle, onto a horse, before giving birth to herself, popping onto stage from in between two giant inflatable legs, to kick off the first of her back-to-back concerts in Vancouver, part of her Born This Way Ball tour, at Rogers Arena on Friday, with Born This Way.

The night sounded like a success, with high-pitched screams and I-don't-give-a-shit-who's-watching dance moves from the neighbours.

Fit for a queen.

"I don't wan't to be a queen. I want to be a friend."

And, she was.

A special phone call and a Happy Birthday song to a fan, money raised for homeless youth, LGBT love and inspirational interludes later.....monsters be smitten with their Mother M.

"When they ask you who is Lady Gaga, you tell them I am you," she told Vancouver.
