Were you lucky enough to attend this year’s three-day One of a Kind show?
This year’s show featured many delicious Canadian treats. There were cinnamon-crusted candy apples, moist, delicious fudge squares, spicy soy beans and natural, gluten-free Indian chutney and spices.
Holy Crap from Sechelt made an appearance at the show with their super organic and healthy breakfast cereals. Coach House Shortbread Company was also at the festival with their beautifully packaged and delicate short bread cookies. Bruce County Nut and Fudge visited the show from Ontario with their sinfully delicious Cinful caramel cinnamon candy apples as well a variety of other beautiful and unique sweets. Vancouver’s own Swiss Bakery were also at the show with their European-style goods. The highlight of their table was their Christmas Stollen bread filled with nuts and fruit and a tasty marzipan center. Beaver House Fudge from Duncan brought along with them a wide array of delectable fudges with flavours such as butter pecan, Canadian maple and Praline Supreme.
For those who prefer savoury items, Ace Curries to Go from North Vancouver brought along their quick and easy curry to go kits for making curry in a hurry. Amuse Bouche right from Vancouver were also there with their unique and cheesy Stilton and Asiago Biscotti and an assortment of homemade cheese crackers. For all the garlic fans, the Garlic Box brought along an assortment of unique and innovative garlic-flavoured products including garlic seasonings, sauces and condiments.
When you’re full of all the delicious handmade treats, you can head over to the craft stations where you can participate in the Make Something Ugly on Purpose workshop, the Make Something Awesome workshop or check out the Paint Bar where you can show off your creative side on a canvas.
There was also a Gingerbread house competition and a breathtaking performance of The Nutcracker by Goh Ballet.
If not everyone on your list is a foodie, the One of a Kind show also features art from up and coming artists, eco-friendly clothing and jewellery.
This year’s show was from Dec. 8 to the 11 at the Vancouver Convention centre. Make sure to keep an eye out for next year’s show so you can pick up a one of a kind gift for that one of a kind person.
