Comix Workshop + Emily Con at Emily Carr University of Art and Design

This fall, Emily Carr Continuing Studies is pleased to host a phenomenal lineup of international comic book artists, graphic novelists, illustrators and publishers for a week of intensive workshops, panels, public lectures and events, culminating in Emily Con, from Sept 24 - 29!

Guests instructors include Scott Hampton (Batman, Books of Magic, The Upturned Stone), Brian Stelfreeze (Batman, Firestorm, Birds of Prey, Fallen Angel, and The Flash), Chris Moeller (Rocketman, Lucifer, Magic: The Gathering), Emily Carroll (Draw This Dress), Mark Smylie (Artesia), John van Fleet (Batman), Zelda Devon and Kurt Huggins (Teetering Bulb). Visiting publishers include James Lucas Jones, Editor-in-Chief, Oni Press and Chris Warner, Senior Editor, Dark Horse Books. Coordinated by Durwin Talon.

Meet and greet visiting local and international comic book artists displaying and selling work in the Emily Carr Concourse Gallery. Guest exhibitors include Ken Boesem, Ed Brisson, Rebecca Dart, Jeff Ellis, Kelly Evereart, Don King, Jacqueline Klobucar, Dave McCaig, Doug Savage, Robin Thompson, Jason Turner and Colin Upton. Take part in the collaborative Comix Jam taking place at the Con and try your hand at comix creation!

Comix Workshops (September 24 – 27) + Industry Day (September 28)

Join us for intensive week-long comic workshops with our world-renowned guest instructors! Workshops focus on a variety of comic book topics and culminate in the students sharing their work with visiting publishers from Oni Press and Dark Horse Books.
