Chef Terroso hails from Portugal and like most great chefs, the dishes he ate as a child serve as inspiration for his cooking today. The Executive Chef at the Vanilla Pod Restaurant at Poplar Grove Winery in Penticton, you will find strong flavours and a great balance between proteins and fish on his menu. Chef Terrosso's skill were on display recently at the 2015 EAT! Vancouver Food + Cooking Festival’s The Canadian Flavours Gala where his dishes were extremely well received by the knowledgeable and appreciative audience.

Granville Island Public Market, 1661 Duranleau Street

A must-stop for this chef since there “really is nothing quite like it in Penticton”, Bruno says. “I grab some Terra Bread, some great cheese, and some beers at Granville Island Brewery, and enjoy it outside.”

Meat & Bread, 370 Cambie Street

“I love it there, it’s one of my go-tos for sure” says Chef Torroso about this popular chain of upscale sandwich purveyors. What does he like best on the menu? “I go with whatever they have on feature that day, but their porchetta? They do such a great job I could eat that every day.”

Twisted Fork Bistro, 1147 Granville Street

Most important meal of the day? For a busy chef, nothing beats breakfast. “Generally when I am in Vancouver it’s for an industry event, so when I stay the night I wake up and want brunch!” laughs Chef Terroso. “I like their eggs benny with bacon and roasted tomato, and a nice Brutus (their version of the Caesar) to chase it down.”

Hawksworth Cocktail Bar, 801 West Georgia Street

“Hawksworth is such a great restaurant, but I prefer the bar side” he says. ”Probably the best cocktails in Vancouver too." When Chef Torrosso visits "I love to grab a small table with friends, and order a Whisky Sour.”

Chambar, 568 Beatty Street

“I love the mussels. If I could have a big bowl here, AND a porchetta sandwich? Heaven”, he laughs. “If Chambar and Meat & Bread got together and had a kid? Best restaurant in the world!”
