On Saturday October 15, protesters in cities around the world gathered to show their support for the growing movement against global injustices and economic inequality. In the weeks leading up to “Globalchange Day”, media and social networks were buzzing in preparation. It all stemmed from the original #OccupyWallStreet movement, bringing people of all ages out to support what’s being described as “a new era" in democratic rights.
Backed by activist groups and labour organizations worldwide, supporters say coordinated events were intended to add new, international voices to the ongoing Occupy movement and to “initiate global change”.
