Aava Whistler Hotel in Whistler, BC: value, eco-friendly comfort and convenience

The Aava in Whistler is  modern-chic yet inviting. The casually cool vibe extends to the staff. They are informed and available yet unobtrusive.

The hotel is a find. Affordable yet less than a five-minute walk through the pedestrian village from the gondolas and lifts in the winter or the hiking/biking trails and golf course in the summer.

After a long day of skiing, pad down to the large outdoor hot-tub in big fluffy hotel robes and slippers. Slip into the sauna to unwind and then into the outdoor heated pool to re-energize for dinner. While the hotel is a 30-second walk to the pedestrian village and dozens of restaurants (or, note to tired parents—there is a White Spot across from the hotel), it is situated just slightly off the beaten track, which makes the pools quiet and relaxing.

The rooms are large and furnished with modern pieces and off beat yet understated patterns (large polka dot curtains), which have more of a stylish loft feel than your average hotel. The very comfortable beds have down duvets and crisp sheets. Added touches of all natural Aveda products in the bathrooms and a great espresso maker top off a great stay.

Visitors can relax their conscience as well knowing that the hotel has high environmental standards and is rated 4 out of 5 “Keys” for efficiency, conservation and other green initiatives.

The hotel has a fully equipped gym, underground parking and complimentary ski and bike storage making it a favorite for cyclists in the summer too.

No question that the Aava is a great base to relax and experience all that Whistler Blackcomb has to offer.
