Cyclist injured in early morning collision

A cyclist is in hospital in critical condition this morning following an early morning collision that closed East 12th Avenue for several hours. East 12th has since been reopened to traffic.

Around 5 am, a cyclist and a car collided in the intersection of East 12th and St. George Street. The rider, a man in his thirties, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the sedan was not injured.

It is unclear at this early stage in the investigation what factors may have contributed to the collision. The cyclist was northbound on St. George and the car was eastbound on East 12th at the time of the collision.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call the VPD Collision Investigation Unit at 604-717-3012.
